Anaia is a Dance Movement Therapist and Arts Therapist, based in Auckland. Anaia’s clinical background includes working with children with emotional and behavioural challenges, developmental delays, physical disabilities, Autism, Attention-deficit disorder, and other special needs; gifted children; Pediatric Cancer Patients; Women’s Groups; clients with depression, anxiety and stress; teens with Eating Disorders; adults seeking personal growth and self understanding; and young children and their parents.

Anaia holds a Masters in Clinical Arts Therapy from Whitecliffe College, is a Professional Member of the Dance Therapy Association Australia, and an Associate Member of the American Dance Therapy Association. Anaia completed a year of intensive Postgraduate Dance Movement Therapy Training in New York with Senior Dance Movement Therapist, Dr. Suzi Tortora. Anaia has trained extensively overseas in Authentic Movement, Laban/Bartenieff, Soul MotionTM Dance, Halprin Life/Art Process, Mindfulness Practice and Gestalt Awareness Practice. Anaia is also a long-time student of The 5RhythmsTM.

Born in Wanganui and raised in Rarotonga for a number of years, Francie specialised in health and not-for-profit recruitment before joining the community sector 7 years ago. Before Dance Therapy NZ she coordinated life-changing programmes for kiwi teens at Discovery Foundation, and more recently was National Grants Fundraiser with StarJam. She is currently completing a Diploma in Not for Profit Management through Unitec. Francie considers it a privilege to be part of an organisation that’s mission aligns with her personal values, supporting people and communities through music, dance and arts.

Michael Greenwood, Programme Coordinator

Michael is a true mainlander being born in Timaru, schooled in Invercargill and studied Arts at Otago University in Dunedin. Michael moved to Melbourne and for 12 years worked as a musician and educator.

Michael has returned to NZ and settled in Auckland with his family and has just joined the Dance Therapy NZ team!

Michael brings a wealth of experience and expertise into the role of program coordinator. For the past 3 years on Saturday mornings, he has been supervising and coordinating at Marshall Laing Music School. Michael’s work as a musician in the arts sector also brings an important understanding about the power of dance, art and music to empower young children, teenagers and adults. Michael has worked with community choirs for many years as an accompanist and conductor. Since 2015 Michael has teamed up with singer Lisa Lorrell and once a month they present ‘Café Musica’, a musical show specifically for the 55+ age group.

Michael has chosen to become part of the Dance Therapy NZ team knowing that he has a passion for making a difference in the greater NZ community.
