Dance Movement Therapy Group for Women

“You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.” -Mary Oliver

Dance Movement Therapy is a form of Psychotherapy that uses movement to support our integration on all levels- emotional, cognitive, physical, social and spiritual. All our experiences, from the earliest beginnings, are stored in our bodies, so this is the starting place from where we begin our journey.

In this safe & creative container, our bodies, minds and hearts have a space to begin to uncover themselves, revealing their own unique truths, offering us wisdom, inspiration and healing. As we gently nudge ourselves toward a clearer and more compassionate understanding of ourselves, change becomes more possible in our selves, our relationships and our lives.

In addition to dance movement therapy practices, sessions will include talking, mindfulness practice & use of art materials. The group is suitable for women of all ages, and is equally appropriate for those who are comfortable dancing and moving, and those who are terrified of moving!

This group is ongoing, however it is open for new members to join three times a year. The group is limited to 8 members, and new members make an initial commitment to 7 sessions.

“Anaia brings an open-hearted, authentic, spacious presence that invites everything a woman harbours to be present. She is an expert guide, skilled at intriguing participants with their own inner landscapes and creating a sense of reverence among group members for one another’s processes and differences, as well as for the community that is formed in her work.”–Grace, Life Coach
